Insights from Nutrition Awareness Sessions
Yesterday was a deeply fulfilling day as we conducted two important health education sessions. Engaging with both young students and women reinforced how meaningful nutrition awareness truly is.
School Nutrition Awareness Session
The session with school children was vibrant and interactive. Their natural curiosity made it easy to introduce concepts like:
- •Smart snacking
- •Balanced lunchbox building
- •Hydration habits
- •Colourful plates and food diversity
- •Identifying real food vs. packaged food
- •Digestive health
- •Cognitive health
Their eagerness to share experiences and ask questions showed how receptive young minds are when knowledge is made relatable and fun.
Special Session for Women – Women's Health, Hormones & Nutrition
The second session focused on empowering women with practical nutrition knowledge. We discussed:
- •Hormonal health and cycle-related nutrition
- •Understanding PCOD vs. PCOS
- •Early signs of anaemia and iron requirements
- •Bone health, calcium, and vitamin D
- •Diet myths around weight loss
- •Building sustainable eating habits even with busy schedules
The segment on PCOD and PCOS received special attention. We clarified the difference, how lifestyle plays a major role, and why balanced nutrition, stress management, sleep, and movement are essential. Many women shared their personal challenges, and the session helped them feel heard and supported.
Mid-Day Meal Program Participation
We also participated in the Mid-Day Meal Program, interacting with children during their lunchtime. This hands-on engagement allowed us to observe their everyday eating habits, guide them on portion balance, and gently reinforce the importance of choosing nutritious foods. It beautifully connected the concepts taught in the session to their real-life meals, making the impact more practical and meaningful.
These sessions emphasized the power of awareness — from shaping healthy habits in children to empowering women with the right information about their bodies. Grateful to Bharosa Foundation for the opportunity to create meaningful impact through community nutrition education.
